Din Tai Fung Las Vegas Review: Is the ARIA Location Worth the Hype? (2026)

Published on

If there is one restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip that consistently draws a massive crowd, it’s Din Tai Fung at the ARIA Resort & Casino. Known globally for their incredible soup dumplings, this specific Vegas location features beautiful open windows, natural lighting, and a massive dining room.

But with the “Vegas premium” pricing and legendary wait times, is it actually worth the hype? We visited recently to find out. Here is our review of the food, the service, and what you should order.

1. The Signature Dish: Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings)

You simply cannot come to Din Tai Fung without ordering their world-famous soup dumplings. Here is what we thought:

WARNING

Caution: The broth inside the Xiao Long Bao is very hot. Please eat carefully!

Note: The Las Vegas location serves 6 pieces per order.

  • Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao: “The modest dumpling that started a legacy.” Every single dumpling is carefully weighed and folded by hand to achieve their signature “Golden Ratio” of exactly 18 folds. They are stuffed with top-quality Kurobuta pork marinated in a blend of carefully-selected seasonings. The best way to eat them? Bite the top, carefully sip the very hot broth, and pair them with the piquant aromas of fresh ginger, soy sauce, and vinegar.
  • Crab & Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao: “The perfect pairing of land and sea.” This was our personal favorite! This delicious twist on the traditional dumpling is filled with juicy Kurobuta pork and crab. The pork’s rich flavor is enhanced by the natural sweetness of crab, for a seafood flavor that’s rich but mellow. Fun detail: they place a tiny dough cutout shaped like a crab in the steamer basket so you can tell them apart!
  • Chicken Xiao Long Bao: A fantastic alternative if you have dietary restrictions. “A classic reinvented,” it is made with fresh chicken, ground daily in-house, with sweet notes of carrot, celery and hints of aromatic ginger and green onion. It tastes exactly like a comforting bowl of chicken soup inside a dumpling! Fun detail: just like the crab version, they put a little chicken-shaped dough cutout in the basket to identify it.

2. Must-Order Entrees & Sides

While the menu here in Vegas is slightly more curated and features some premium/fusion items compared to their locations in Asia, the classics are still flawless:

  • Cucumber Salad: “Light and refreshing, with a hint of spice.” This is a fantastic appetizer to start your meal. It features crisp Persian cucumbers combined with cuts of mild Fresno chili peppers and sliced, fresh garlic—all tossed together with drizzles of sesame oil and their signature DTF chili oil.
  • Chicken Spicy Wontons: “Made with high-quality chicken.” While the Shrimp & Kurobuta Pork version is popular, the chicken is our personal favorite. These handmade wontons are always a fan favorite, served in their signature house spicy sauce and topped with garlic and green onion. It is savory, fragrant, and highly comforting.
  • Noodles with Minced Kurobuta Pork: “A refreshing and savory delight.” If you want a noodle dish, this is our absolute favorite. They use house-made thin egg noodles topped with a savory mixture of minced Kurobuta pork sauteed with diced tomatoes, beancurd, chopped green onion, whole edamame, and sliced cucumber.
  • Pork Chop Fried Rice: “Delicious is in the details.” This is our daughter’s absolute favorite! Perfectly seasoned and textured fried rice meets the irresistible aromas of fried eggs and freshly-chopped green onion. It is topped with their signature Shanghainese-style fried pork cutlet that is crispy on the outside with a tender, juicy center. (If you prefer poultry, their Chicken Fried Rice is also fantastic and incredibly fluffy!)

3. The Showstopping Dessert

Whatever you do, save room for dessert.

  • Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao: “A taste of happiness in every bite.” If you love chocolate, this dessert will blow your mind. It features decadent, premium chocolate truffle enveloped in a thin layer of mochi—wrapped with painstaking attention into their signature 18 folds. It is a burst of chocolate lava in every bite. (Caution: hot filling inside. May contain peanuts.)

4. Practical Info, Wait Times & Service Review

While the food is undeniably top-tier, the overall experience comes with some caveats you should be prepared for.

TIP

  • Wait Times: We went recently without a reservation and were put on a waitlist. We waited about 90 minutes. The good news is the system will send a text message to your phone when your seat is available.
  • Insider Hack: Use that 90-minute wait to walk over and shop at The Shops at Crystals, which is attached to the ARIA!
  • The Vibe: Because the restaurant is so massive and popular, the dining room is very loud and noisy. This is not a quiet, romantic spot.
  • The Service: The service can be improved. Because the space is huge and extremely crowded, we had to wait a long time for a server to come take our order, refill our water, and finally bring us the check.
  • Pricing: Prices are definitely higher than what you would pay at a local Chinese restaurant off the Strip. However, considering Din Tai Fung’s global fame and its prime location inside the luxurious ARIA Resort, the pricing is actually quite reasonable for a Vegas dining experience.

The Final Verdict: Is it worth it? Yes, the food quality, standardization, and authentic flavors make it one of the best Asian dining experiences on the Strip. Just make sure you make a reservation well in advance, or plan to enjoy some shopping while you wait!
